Too Much Rock For One Hand!

Women's Rock Rugby is the official women's Rugby club team at Slippery Rock University. It is a student run team currently self coached by team captains. For the past three years the team has been Champion of the Allegheny Rugby Union. This year the team overcame outstanding odds, and advanced from Midwest Sweet Sixteens, to Elite 8's, to Final Fours and finally to Midwest Top Two Final Playoffs. The team is now ranked Number 1 in the Midwest Region and seeded #2 in the Nation to play the #2 ranked team in the West at National Playoffs in Sanford, Florida the weekend of April 17, 2009.
NATIONALS LOCATION ANNOUNCED
| The location for the USA Rugby Women's Collegiate National Playoffs has finally been released. The Women's DII National Playoffs are to be held April 17-19 2009 at Seminole Soccer Complex in Sanford, Florida. The Women's DII National Championships are to be held May 1-2 in Palo Alto, California at Stanford University |

After an amazing season sweeping our Union with a 5-0 record, we have triumphed at Midwest Final Playoffs coming out on top after an intense game versus University of Michigan 25-13. For the first weekend ever playing in unfavorable weather including hail, snow, and sleet, the team kept University of Michigan within their own 22 for most of the game. Callie Verrette scored 3 vital points with a penalty kick and Whitney Paronish made a crucial try in the second half of the game, giving Slippery Rock the points they needed to secure the win. |

FUNDS NEEDED
| As a club sport, the team receives little funding from the University. At this point the team is ecstatic to be advancing to National Playoffs in the Spring. At this point fundraising has become crucial to advancing any farther. As of now, the team has set a goal of $35,000 to raise before Spring 2009.
